location

little phlox farm is located on ten country acres, where our family grows flowers, makes music & art among the rolling hills & small farms of southwest michigan. just across the indiana border, we’re twenty minutes from notre dame & thirty minutes from lake michigan beaches. while you’ll be sharing the property with our family, you’re free to enjoy the farm & all the food & flowers you can forage, as well as the cultivated gardens to the east of the farmhouse. the land opens up to the north, just beyond the goat & chicken paddocks, with eight acres of walking trails ambling through wildflowers, rhubarb, asparagus, raspberries, cherries, apples & pears. the back field has a fire pit & picnic table, perfect for end-of-day gatherings. we love hosting, and are always happy to help, but also very happy to give you space!

things to do

just down the road & around the corner is lehman’s orchard, open spring through autumn, where you can pick blueberries, cherries, raspberries, & apples. fernwood is also lovely—an arboretum, botanical garden, & nature preserve just a few miles from here, situated on 100+ riverfront acres, with woodland walking trails (also, a cafe with pie!). on your way to or from, stop by river st. joe, an organic farmstead brewery, for a sip & a sit in the beautiful rolling landscape.

for an even closer walk, try st. patrick’s park, almost 400 acres of wooded trails & ponds on the st. joe river. offers kayak, canoe, & stand-up paddleboarding in summer, skiing, tubing, & snowshoeing in winter.
